Choosing the Right Flooring for Your Kitchen

Choosing the Right Flooring for Your Kitchen

Choosing the right flooring for your kitchen remodel can get confusing.

Choosing the right flooring for your kitchen remodel can get confusing. There are a lot of options available and pros and cons you should weigh before making your choice. Follow this guide for picking the right flooring in your home.

Cork Flooring

Cork flooring has become a popular choice for a kitchen because it is easy to clean and particularly sustainable and economically friendly. The cellular structure makes it quite resistant to moisture, which is also great for kitchen applications. To maintain these benefits, you’ll have to seal it about every four years. And while it is soft on your feet, heavy furniture can cause indentions. Cork flooring is also harvested from tree bark and probably the most sustainable option available.

Engineered Hardwood

In terms of pricing, engineered hardwood is on the high end. That’s because it’s incredibly valuable. It can increase the overall value of your home and looks especially impressive in open-concept kitchens. If your kitchen will see a lot of traffic, engineered hardwood is strong and durable enough to withstand the high flow.

Vinyl Flooring

If you’re working with a tight budget, vinyl flooring is an option that is friendly on your pockets and low maintenance. Although it can be susceptible to scratches, vinyl comes in a variety of style options that would complement many kitchen designs. It comes in planks or tiles and has excellent durability. All vinyl is incredibly water-resistant, but you can find versions that are completely waterproof.

Porcelain Tile

Porcelain doesn’t just have a home in the bathroom, it also works as great flooring in the kitchen. It’s incredibly durable and completely waterproof. Plus, there’s no need to worry about stains. On the other side, you’d have to be careful as porcelain can get quite slippery.

Natural Stone

Just like engineered hardwood, natural stone will also increase the overall value of your home. With natural stone flooring, you can create an upscale look in your kitchen, plus it’s also incredibly durable. Although it’s laborious to install, there will be no need to replace it any time soon.
