When was the last time you renovated your bathroom? For many, the answer is zero–you might have the same bathroom design that was there when you moved into the house.

When was the last time you renovated your bathroom?  For many, the answer is zero–you might have the same bathroom design that was there when you moved into the house.  This can present a number of problems, not the least of which is an outdated design.  If you aren’t sure whether or not you need to update your bathroom, there are a few simple signs you can search for.  Any one of these signs can be grounds for redesign and remodeling–does your bathroom have any of the following qualities?

Leaks and Dripping

A leaky faucet is more than just a hassle, and an inefficient toilet or shower head can seriously, drastically affect your water bill.  You could be wasting up to 90 gallons of water per year if your bathroom has this problem.  If your faucet leaks, and a simple fix doesn’t do anything, save the hassle of calling a plumber.  The leak will only reappear later on.  To completely solve your high water bill, you can update all of your bathroom appliances to make them more efficient.

Mold and Mildew

Serious mold problems indicates complicated plumbing issues that require complete renovation.  Mold is unhealthy, and can cause many issues–some mold can even be deadly.  You cannot paint over mold, and that means you have to reconstruct entirely.  If you see signs of mold around your bathtub or shower, it’s likely that the problem is far beneath the surface.  You most likely need a complete reboot.

Poor Design Choices

Rose colored tubs and miniscule tiles are out of style, and have been for quite a few years.  If you’ve got anything like this incorporated in your bathroom design, it’s time to move on.  Updating the design of your bathroom by installing sleek flooring, white appliances, and modern accents is the best way to keep your bathroom up with the times.
